UPTOWN ART FAIR 2009: A Fusion of Art, Flavor, and Flair

LOCATION:
The intersection of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue and “The Mall” in Southwest Minneapolis.

FEATURES:
Choose from a variety of creative and original works of art including sculptures, paintings, photographs, woodcarvings, glasswork, jewelry, multimedia compositions and more. Over $2.5 million of art is sold during the festival, ranging from limited editions to one-of-a-kind treasures. Purchase art from youth representing the future of the Uptown Art Fair at the Tomorrow’s Stars Seen Today youth art fair. Enjoy food and drinks from over 20 vendors, as well as non-stop entertainment on the CBS Outdoor Performance Stage. Relax in the Wine Garden, or create your own art at the Family Imagination Station activity area.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
The Uptown Art Fair is the winner of over 70 International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) Pinnacle Awards. The Pinnacles recognize the highest quality in promotional programs and materials produced by IFEA’s more than 3,000 member festivals and events around the world. They are the most prestigious awards in the special events industry. Art Fair Sourcebook listed the 2007 Uptown Art Fair as 8th in the nation. The Harris Guide ranked it the #1 Art Fair in Minnesota.

ATTENDANCE:
An average of 375,000 people attend annually, making the Art Fair #2 in statewide event attendance, second only to the Minnesota State Fair.

INSIDER TIP:
Skip the hassle of parking and take a Metro Transit bus to the Art Fair at no charge. Vita.mn Art Hop buses run continuous loops on Saturday and Sunday with stops at the Uptown Art Fair, Powderhorn Art Fair, and Loring Park Art Festival. Buses leave each fair and pre-determined rail stations every 20 minutes. Click here for additional information and maps to free park and ride lots near light rail stations. CBS Outdoor Performance Stage

DATE: August 7-9
LOCATION: Old Chicago (2841 Hennepin Avenue)


In between walking, eating, and artist booth browsing, stop and enjoy a variety of live performances at the CBS Outdoor Performance Stage. Performances will include belly dancers, magic shows, dance bands, improvisational comedy and more. Two headlining bands will take the main stage on Friday and Saturday night. Stop by and check out Art Fair flair on this year’s CBS Outdoor Performance Stage.
