Submission Guidelines for Found and Foraged Art Exhibit
Are you inspired to create? We invite artists to submit their work to the Found and Foraged Organic Art Exhibit, where creativity meets nature! Celebrate the beauty of the natural world by crafting art using leaves, seeds, branches, and other foraged materials. Think outside the box—like the imaginative seed art you see at the Great Minnesota Get-Together! You could win a $300 gift card to Bachman’s with the winning People’s Choice entry!

Material Guidelines

Seeds:

  • Use seeds from horticultural crops such as vegetables, flowers, or trees.
  • Seeds can be whole, ground, rolled, or cracked
  • Weed seeds and seeds from plants listed as noxious weeds by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture are strictly prohibited

Other Natural Materials:

  • Incorporate natural elements such as leaves, branches, or other foraged materials to highlight the connection between art and nature
  • Ensure all materials are sustainably sourced and free of contaminants

Background Requirements

  • Backgrounds may be made from plywood, canvas board, heavy mat board, paneling, burlap, linen, or other suitable fabrics.
  • Pieces must not exceed 22” wide x 28” tall

Framing and Presentation

  • Rectangular or square mosaics must be framed or have finished edges for a polished appearance
  • Irregularly shaped forms should not be framed but must have clean, finished edges

Hanging and Display

  • All mosaics must include appropriate hardware, such as picture hanging wire or hooks, to facilitate easy display
  • The show director will determine whether the piece is hung or displayed on a stand
  • Please provide a 4×6 title card label that describes all materials used, include your name

Finishing Touches
Once your work is complete, apply a clear lacquer spray or varnish over the seeds and background. This step enhances the piece’s vibrancy, helps preserve the materials, and ensures the artwork stays intact.

Submission Review Process
All submitted works will undergo an initial review based on written descriptions and photographs of the proposed artwork. Selected artists will be notified and provided with detailed guidelines and direction for preparing their final submissions.

Submission Process

  1. Artwork Eligibility: Ensure your piece meets all the guidelines listed above
  2. Please fill out the ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM, before January 27. Late submissions will not be accepted
  3. Submission Location: Deliver your artwork to Bachman’s on Lyndale Customer Service Desk, include your title card with your piece
  4. Submission Pick Up: Your piece may be taken with you end of day of February 2, 2025
